It’s made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile. There are two types of complete dentures:
Conventional
This type is made after your teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually taking 4 to 6 weeks. During this time, you’ll go without teeth.
Immediate
This type is made in advance and immediately placed after your teeth are removed, thus preventing you from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, Dr. Ochev will make adjustments.
A denture is a very durable appliance and will last many years, but may have to be readjusted, repaired, or replaced due to normal wear.
Replace all your missing teeth in an arch
Improve your chewing, speech, and digestion
Enhance your smile and facial tissues
The process of getting a denture requires several appointments, usually over several weeks.
At your first visit, Dr. Ochev takes highly accurate impressions (molds) and measurements that will used to create your custom denture. Several “try-in” visits may be necessary to ensure proper shape, color, and fit. At your final visit, he’ll precisely adjust and place the completed denture, ensuring a natural and comfortable fit.
It’s normal to experience increased saliva flow, some soreness, and possible speech and chewing difficulty; however, this will subside as your muscles and tissues get used to the new denture.
You’ll receive care instructions at the end of your treatment. Proper cleaning of your new dental appliance, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new denture.
