Your trays are custom-fitted to ensure an even application, and the specially-formulated gel is viscous and sticky so it won’t leak onto your gums. What to Expect

Please keep in mind that your teeth and gums must be healthy enough for whitening. Also, whitening only works on your natural enamel. For the best match between your natural teeth and any restoration, Dr. Ochev recommends getting a new restoration or repair (such as a filling or crown) after whitening. This way, you give yourself the best chance of a consistent shade that blends in naturally.

At Our Office

During your first visit, Dr. Ochev gently takes impressions that will be used to create custom, clear plastic trays. At your second visit, you try on your new custom trays for proper fit, and he makes adjustments if necessary.

At Your Home

You wear your trays with the special whitening gel either twice-a-day for 15 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks depending on the concentration — the higher the concentration, the shorter the wear time. You can still use the gel if you wear Invisalign^®retainers.

Caring for Your Teeth and Trays

Please follow your Opalescence care instructions. The whitening effect can last a year or more depending on factors such as certain foods and drinks that can stain your teeth, as well as smoking, age, dental trauma, medication, and oral care routine.
