Because whitening only works on your natural enamel, Dr. Ochev will evaluate the replacement of any restorations such as old fillings and crowns. The replacement of any restorations is done after whitening so they match your newly bleached teeth.
Teeth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed every several years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, drink tea, or drink wine.
Fluorosis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development)
Normal wear of outer tooth layer
Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.)
Yellow, brown stained teeth
This type of teeth whitening usually requires two appointments.
During your first visit, Dr. Ochev takes impressions (molds) that will be used to create custom, clear plastic trays. At your second visit, you’ll try on the trays for proper fit, and he’ll make adjustments if necessary.
You’ll wear your trays with a special whitening solution either twice-a-day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks depending on the desired level of whitening. It’s normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you’re whitening your teeth, but it’ll subside shortly after you’ve stopped bleaching.
You’ll receive care instructions for your teeth and trays, and you’ll be encouraged to visit Dr. Ochev regularly to help maintain a beautiful, healthy, white smile.
