Digital Dental X-rays

Digital dental X-rays use 80% to 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays. They’re essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during your regular exam.

Dr. Ochev uses this information to safely and accurately detect hidden abnormalities and to complete an accurate treatment plan. Without X-rays, problem areas may go undetected.

Detecting and treating problems at an early stage can save you time, money, unnecessary discomfort, and your teeth.

7 Things X-rays May Reveal

Abscesses or cysts

Bone loss

Cancerous and non-cancerous tumors

Decay between your teeth

Developmental abnormalities

Poor tooth and root positions

Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

What do they involve?

Our digital X-ray imaging system is environmentally friendly (no more film or chemicals) which means less waiting time, shorter appointments, involved co-diagnosis, and a better understanding of treatment.

Are digital dental X-rays safe?

We are all exposed to natural radiation in our environment. Dental X-rays produce a low level of radiation and are considered safe. Our state-of-the-art digital X-ray imaging system reduces the exposure of radiation even more. We also take the necessary precautions to limit your exposure to radiation when taking them. These precautions include using a lead apron shield with a thyroid collar to protect your body.

How often should digital dental X-rays be taken?

The need for X-rays depends on your individual needs. Our recommendation is based on your medical and dental history, dental exam, signs and symptoms, age, and risk for disease.

For new patients, we recommend a full series of X-rays which is usually good for three to five years. We recommend bite-wing X-rays (X-rays of the top and bottom teeth biting together) once or twice a year at check-up visits to detect new problems.
